Biography

Gu Shining (born Gu Shiyi on Feb 5, 1966) is a 15th generation inheritor of the Wudang Sanfeng Sect and founder of the Wudang Taoist Wellness Academy. Born at the foot of Wudang Mountain, he has dedicated his life to bridging cultures through Taoist philosophy and martial arts.

A graduate of Hubei University's Foreign Language Department (1988), Gu initially worked as a teacher near the historic Yuzhen Palace. Through his work providing translation services for international visitors, he developed a deep passion for spreading Taoist culture. He resigned from public office in 1991 to fully devote himself to translation and Tai Chi cultivation.

In 2003, Gu founded the Wudang Culture Exchange Center and later the Wudang Taoist Kung Fu Academy (2004). His fluency in English combined with his martial arts expertise made him a vital bridge for Wudang culture globally, notably translating for Master Zhong Yunlong's Wudang Kung Fu website. In 2009, he was formally accepted as a disciple by Master Zhong Yunlong.

Gu has represented Wudang culture internationally in Spain, Brazil, and Russia. He has been recognized as one of the "Wudang Hundred Elites" (2007) and twice honored as a "Wudang Martial Arts Inheritor" (2008, 2010). He continues to teach and promote Taoist wellness through his academy and online platforms.
